WING ARMCHAIR, ONE OF TWO

Creator(s): Unknown

On view in: First Floor Library

About this object

The chairs are high wing armchairs. They are upholstered in needlework with loose cushion seats. The designs on the needlework represent figures in a landscape with farm animals and buildings. The chairs have curved legs ending in carved feet and curved stretchers. The arm rests are curved as there are curved projections at the top of the chair. The needlework on this chair shows a girl holding a basket. Standing next to her is a man wearing breeches and a hat. They are surrounded by fences, various farm animals, a tree to the right and a water mill in the foreground.
