About this object

Part of a suite of four chairs and two sofas. Its softly shaped back is carved with a band of guilloche and seat rails are decorated with laurel leaves and berries. The rectangular, tapering legs are carved with a ribbon design that is tied around the back and terminates in a bold volute in openwork carved at the front with an acanthus motif. Gilded in two tone gold (yellow and green).
