About this object

Curved back and the front curves outward in the center. Decorated in two-color gold. The frames of the seats are carved with laurel leaves in green gold on a red gold ground. Where the back joins the seat, there is carved acanthus leaves again in green gold. The legs are unusual. At the top where the leg joins the seat it is carved with an outward bulge with acanthus leaves. This section has an opening cut into it so that the light shines through and lightens the effect of heaviness. The legs, rectangular in profile, have channelling. Carved around them is a ribbon in green gold on a red gold ground. At the feet are carved acanthus leaves in green gold.
