LOW CHAIR (CHAUFFEUSE), ONE OF A TWO

About this object
The walnut frames are carved, polished and gilded. The fact that the wood was polished may indicate that the gilding came later. The back is square except for a slight curve upward. The arms curve downward to the setback and then another curve down to the frame. The frame for the seat is curved downward, on each of the four sides. The four legs are cabriolet.
