About this object

In two sections- the upper is a cupboard with two glass doors and a marble top edged with an openwork railing in gilt metal; below this is a gilt metal band in low relief imitating drapery swags and tassels. The lower section consists of a single storage area faced with glass on the curved indented sides and on the front which is a door; the bottom is a slab of white marble; the rounded posts in front have stripes in two shades of wood imitating chaneling, as do the four tapered legs. A band of leafy scrolls in gilt metal tops the lower section; in the center it faces a shallow drawer which provides a writing surface when it is pulled out.
