About this object

The rectangular table stands on four straight legs. The front has a frieze drawer and two doors concealing a compartment for storage and two drawers. The top is covered with a panel of primitive style marquetry representing in the center two books, an inkwell, two quill pens, some drafting tools, and a vase of flowers at either side. On the front the frieze drawer is decorated with row diamond-shaped clusters of leaves within rectangles. The doors below have a cluster of trophies- each containing two banners, a shield and a sword suspended from a ribbon. Each side has three vases and three leaf clusters. The back has no marquetry picture. The plain legs have brass collars at the top, and brass sabots.
