About this object

Pair of Louis XVI marquetry heart-shaped boudoir commodes. Inlaid panels of ribbon draped musical instrument on side door panels. Borders on mother-of-pearl. Ormolu holly top molding and mounts on shaped legs. Back part of top has ormolu gallery (added later). Marjorie Merriweather Post had these made to match her roll-top desk by Roentgen (see 33.222).
