About this object

The rectangular back is carved in openwork with channeled column at either side. The central portion of the back has the interlace monogram "MA" for Marie Antoinette in the center placed in a medallion. At either side is an arrow pointing upward and tied with a bowknot. Above the monogram is a wreath. The seat skirt has beading and the tapering legs have acanthus leaves near the bottom.
