About this object

The deep bowl has a scalloped edge and a rounded bottom. It is decorated with an all over design of birds on an ivory ground on the inside of the bowl. On the outside is a narrow border of dark red and gold at the top edge and on the low ring foot. The rest of the bowl is decorated with a landscape of sprays of flowers and leaves and two birds on an ivory ground. There is a fine crackle. This is Satsuma ware.
