About this object

The vases are urn-shaped with two handles, a cover, and stand on a pedestal foot with a high base. Each vase is decorated on the front with garlands of flowers in relief. The garlands are on the front, the neck and the foot. Within these draped garlands on the front is painted an allegorical scene. There are similar garlands on the backs of the vases but these center medallions with clusters of flowers rather than allegorical scenes. The covers are partially open but have flowers in relief on the top. The bases are also draped with garlands of flowers in relief on all four sides. The scene on the front centering a pseudo-classical scene, those on the other three sides only clusters of flowers.
