About this object

These ten "Queen's Beasts" were designed for the Coronation of Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953 by Mr. James Woodford, O.B.E. and were set up at the annex at Westminster Abbey. The Black Bull has golden hoofs and horns. He holds the shield of the Royal Arms as borne by English sovereigns from 1405-1603.
