About this object

These ten "Queen's Beasts" were designed for the Coronation of Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953 by Mr. James Woodford, O.B.E. and were set up at the annex at Westminster Abbey. The Falcon is silver with outspread wings and gold legs and beak. The shield bears the blue and mulberry red livery colors of the House of York.
