About this object

Set was made during World War I to raise money for one of the Allied Charities. Decoration aside from gilding around the edges consists of a single motif, a shield of arms made after the US flag with laurel branches to either side. Then above are three flags, British, French and Belgium, with Cuba, Romania, Montenegro, Italy, Russia, Japan, Portugal, and Serbia at the left and at the right. The transfer-printed decoration occurs on one side of all the pieces except twice on the saucers.
