About this object

The box is oval in shape. On the cover is a classical scene in white on the blue gound. It shows a young man seated at the left with an older man kneeling before him and two men to the right. A torch burns at the far right. It is surrounded by a border of oak leaves and acorns. Around the sides are small classical scenes probably adapted from gems, two on each side and one at each end.
