About this object

This unglazed porcelain figure features a barefoot young woman carrying an infant. The female figure wears a short, black overcoat, a long, green floral skirt, and has a lavender kerchief with a white floral border tied around her head. The infant in her arms is wrapped in a black blanket and is tied to her with a white rope. A white sack—presumably containing her belongings—hangs from the female figure’s left arm. The round plinth beneath her is painted to resemble a country road with green grass and wagon wheel marks. A short tree trunk on the proper left serves as additional structural support for the figure.

F." in Cyrillic underneath the plinth porcelain mark number 1673 imprinted in the body of porcelain next to the figure's right foot handwritten mark number 7 - 90 (maybe indicating the price it was once sold for)
