About this object

This unglazed porcelain figure features an old peasant man seated on a pile of logs. He has grey hair with a receding hairline, and a grey beard that splits into two points at the end. The expression on the peasant's face is calm and self-absorbed, and he casts his eyes downwards. His rests his hands comfortably between his knees while he tips his feet back onto his heels. He wears a white shirt with reddish-brown polka dots that is loosely tied with a tasseled black belt. His black pants are tucked into beige felt boots with brown soles. The rectangular plinth that supports the figure resembles a plot of green grass with three brown logs stacked in a pile.
