About this object
Statuette depicts a Koriak woman seated on her heels scraping a hide. She wears a hooded coverall in dark brown reindeer fur. Decoration, called "moons" in Koriak, are placed in a very even fashion on the front and back of the jacket. These have been painted and sculpted to resemble beading and leatherwork in blue, red, white, and green. Additional beaded or needlework ornamention appears on the top edge of the hood . She rolls or scrapes a dark brown wooden tool over the inside of the fur she is scraping. The ground is in gray-greens.

- MARK under: scratched in paste the Cyrillic word "Koriatskaia zhenshchina" and the Cyrillic initials I.Z. for Imperial Porcelain Factory Modeller Ivan Zotov. As of October 1998, the pencilled phrase "N. 18328 - 25 r (Cyrillic)" were apparent on the bottom rim of the base.
