About this object

Tray has in the center a landscape painting with a view of Gatchina Palace, framed in gold border. Next comes a brown luster border with a row of gold leaves on the outside; then a wide gold border with etched palmettes,etc. The rising rim has a brown luster background with a leaf in gold and a gold edge. Coffeepot has a brown luster background. On each side is a medallion bordered in gold and painted with a landscape. One has two goats with shepherd in the foreground and a monastery in the distance. The other is a view of a park. The foot is in gold and around the shoulder is a wide gold band with a palmette design. The neck is in brown luster with gold spout and handle. The cover has a brown luster edge in gold and with a gold knop. Creamer is similar to the coffeepot except for the medallions. One has a landscape with trees and a building in the distance. The other has trees in the central foreground, ruins at the right and buildings in the left background. Tea pot is similar except for the medallions. One has a hilly landscape with a village with church in the middle distance. The other has a wooded and hilly landscape with a domed church in the middle distance recalling St. Peter's in Rome. Sugar bowl is similarly decorated except for the landscapes which are Italianate with churches in the middle distance. Saucers have the same sort of decoration but with different landscapes. One with a river, a bridge and a castle, the other with trees in the foreground and a domed church in the middle distance. Covered cups again are similarly decorated except for the medallions, one with a landscape and a village at the far right and one with a landscape with trees and a building in the middle distance.
