About this object

Tea caddy has the cipher of Count Grigorii Grigor'evich Orlov in gold flanked by military banners and cannon in silver as part of the decoration. Rococo in shape, the lid and the bottom sections are finely painted with fish-scale design in gold on a dark cobalt blue ground. Romancing putti sitting on a grassy mound form the handle of the lid. The spout and handle are gilded.
