About this object

Shaped like an oval basket with a fretwork in gold and blue fleurettes where the frets cross. There is a green rope border at the top and bottom. The handles are shaped like green branches and leaves with blue flowers. In the inside on the bottom is a spray of flowers. Previously miscatalogued as a salt cellar, the piece is a sauce boat as identified by Dr. Tina Khmelnitskaya of the Hermitage.
