About this object

The ground is dark blue (bleu du roi). On the front is an oval panel with a plain tooled gold frame, a pastoral scene with two figures-the "flute lesson" after Boucher, the top section of the cup is richly gilt with a band of foliate scrolled motifs, the same motifs are repeated on the cover between two reserves each painted with a landscape, the handle like two twisted twigs picked in gold.
