About this object

The ground is white. Molded gilt strap-like bands encircle the top edge of the pot and descend to acanthus leaves on four scrolled feet. On front and back of the pot is a medallion painted with large clusters of flowers and fruit in natural color. A medallion under each of the two handles is painted with garden tools. The lid and the oval tray each have four medallions like those on the pot and the platter, in addition, a central medallion depicting a bird cage and sheath of wheat among other motifs. The scrolled handles have gilt molded acanthus and laurel leaves.
