About this object

A pale pink ground highlighted with gold rococo scrolls and areas of white decorated with polychrome flowers distinguishes this elaborate dessert service. The service pieces are elaborately gilded with contrasting areas of matte and burnished gold and foliate and marine motifs in relief. Dolphins, shells, and acanthus leaves from the supports and bases of these pieces. The low footed dish consists of a plate with scalloped borders resting on a low base. In the center of the plate,on white, is a cluster of flowers. On the rim there are eight panels reserved in white each containing a cluster of flowers, and flanked by small sections of lattice and floral sprays raised in gold. The stand, in shiny gold, has four feet shaped like masks and between them shells and leaf scrolls in relief.
