About this object

This goblet is made of very transparent glass. The thistle-shaped bowl has on one side a medallion etched with the bust of Elizabeth I (Elizaveta Petrovna) within a wreath, all within an engraved medallion ornamented with polished printies. On the the other is the empress's cipher surmounted by the imperial crown within a similar medallion. Between these two, the surface is filled with delicate floral sprays. The bulging base of the thistle-shaped bowl is faceted. Interior of the base of the bowl is decorated with six small bubbles, each held within one of the facets. They are placed so that from the side, they seem to double. Baluster stem is faceted and eight sided. It is composed of two proper knops above an inverted baluster knop. Base has floral band matching the decoration on the bowl.
