About this object

Except for the baluster stem, the glass shows extensive crizzling. Bowl is engraved on one side with two adjacent medallions, each with an interlaced mirror monogram. Above the two medallions is a coronet, while to the right and left is a branch with leaves. About the lip is a series of dots which are matched on the lid. The rim is hot-worked. The baluster stem is decorated with a series of decorative air pockets. It is comprised of a large inverted baluster knop above a large proper knop. The flat base is decorated (acid etched or engraved?) with a leaf-like pattern around the rim. The lid is decorated with a series of printies around the base. Very finely done leaves decorate the tip and base of the finial. (They are either acid-etched or engraved and are done by an extremely skilled artisan who was able to represent the finest details of veins and other characteristic structures.) The finial is decorated with an interior bubble and is comprised of a proper knop, a baluster knop, and a bladed knop.
