The champagne goblet commemorates the visit of the Russian Naval delegation to France in 1893. It is decorated with the Imperial double-headed eagle on one side and the double cross of Lorraine on the other. The combined symbols of Russia and Lorraine signaled the French desire for Russia's support in regaining the province.
