About this object
Applied to the front of the bowl is a medallion in white glass with a thin gilt border. In the center of the white glass medallion the arms of the Meller-Zakomelskii family surmounted by a coronet are painted in bright colors. The heavy lead glass is cut in an ornate style that is typical of Russian production of the Imperial and Bakhmetev Glassworks in the 1820s and 1830s. The bowl is cut in crosshatch pattern at the top, vertical ribbing between, and deep horizontal ribs ending in a wreath-shaped knop at the base of the bowl. The stem is channeled and the underside of the foot is cut in a star pattern. The lip and foot both have been gilded.
