MUG WITH LID

Creator(s): Imperial Glass Manufactory (Attributed to)

On view in: Passageway to Dining Room

About this object

On front of the mug is an oval white glass medallion with a gilt edge containing an enameled scene of a cupid. He has put down his quiver of arrows, which lays on the ground next to him, and instead holds a rifle with a bayonet. He wears a tricorner hat. The entire scene is rendered in natural color. A complex diamond faceting covers the rest of the body. Within each diamond is an alternating pattern of sunbursts and latticework. There is a gold band at base and at lip. The handle is decorated with a gold band on either side and stylized motifs between.
