About this object

Affixed to the front of the bowl is a white glass medallion with a gilded edge, on which is depicted a bust of the General M.I. Platov in natural colors, facing three-quarters to the right. He is surrounded on either side by gilded oak leaves. The body of the heavy champagne glass is cut in a series of vertical facets relieved by two smooth horizontal bands. The base is made up of three concentric facets and a gilded knop cut to resemble a wreath. The stem is cut into eight facets that flare outward 2/3 of the way to the edge of the foot. Another thick gold rim surrounds the edge of the facets on the stem and the edge of the foot is cut in a daisy fashion. The underside is uncut.
