About this object

The thistle shaped bowl is engraved on one side with the cipher of Empress Elizabeth I (Elizaveta Petrovna) in a medallion with the imperial crown above. Cannon, banners, pikes, and other war trophies are placed at the right and left of this. On the opposite face is the imperial Russian double headed eagle. The eagle's crowns are very schematic and are made up of only three small printies. The third, floating crown is very large. The bulging, lower section of the thistle-shaped bowl is faceted. The baluster stem is comprised of a proper knop above an inverted baluster knop. Both are faceted. The flat foot is plain. Cover is engraved with two sprays of leaves and flowers and has a faceted knop comprised of a partial baluster knop and two proper knops. Cover may not match goblet.
