About this object

Just under the shelf of the mantel is a narrow band of the egg and dart motif in gilt bronze. The panel across the top has a vine scroll in ormolu on either side of a wreath, and at either end of a rectangle with acanthus leaves. The side supports have each a pilaster tapered downward, with a corinthian capital, a base, and decoration inside the channeling, all in gilt bronze.
