About this object

The box is circular in shape. The sides and bottom of the box is made in porphyry mounted in narrow bands of engraved gold. Set in the cover is the miniature mosaic with a view of the temple of Vesta. The temple is in the center and is circular in shape. To the left are two small buildings, and at the bottom are rocks and plants. The rest of the mosaic is open sky.
