About this object

The flowerpot is carved from a single piece of banded agate and has a strip of gold or gilt metal around the top and bottom. The sides of the pot are smooth. The earth in the pot is gilded. The five flowers are pansies. Their stems are in gold or gilt metal and the leaves are carved in green jade. The pansies are made of sardonyx with a diamond in the center.
