About this object

The plain agate bowl has a silver rim with an acanthus motif on the lower edge. Along the top is a long snake which curves around most of the top edge. Sitting on the rim is a silver statuette of Neptune. He holds a triton in his right hand and his left hand is against his chest. To either side of him are leaves and stems enamelled green and with pearls for blossoms. The agate narrows to join a circular silver base which has an acanthus motif on the upper part. The rest of the base is decorated with leaves and flowers in transculent enamel-green, and yellow.
