About this object

The frame is made of malachite which is mounted between two narrow gilt metal rims. The rims are stamped with a design of pointed leaves and dots. There is an inner frame of gilt wood. The back is made of heavy polished wood with a hinged opening. It contains an engraving of Emperor Alexander III and his family (55.28).
