About this object

The rectangular box is lined with wood. It was probably intended for cigars. The upper and lower horizontal outside edges are made in ivory, the rest of the box being covered with malachite. The handles at the sides and for the cover are in coral. The shape of the handles and knob are a decorative curl. This box was exhibited at the Paris Exposition in 1937 by Marcel Wolfers and Fernand Colin and won a prize.
