About this object

The large silver kettle is decorated with shell motifs and foliage against an engraved net background. The fluted collar bears the beaded monogram 'EM' under the Russian Imperial crown. The handle is adorned with groups of flowers, grapevine leaves and scrolls. The domed lid is topped with a sculptural finial of two lovebirds. The stand is equally decorative and richly modelled from intertwined grapevines with hanging grapes and leaves. A removable circular oil burner and holder is centrally placed within the elaborate silver structure.
