About this object

The two-handled covered circular tureen is carved with bands of scrolls, flowers, and fruit on a matte ground enclosing panels within beaded borders. The shaped handles are decorated with openwork in the same style. The domed lid is adorned with an identical design and bears an engraved inscription in Cyrillic. The finial is the Yusupov coat-of-arms. The oval stand depicts a décor matching the tureen (2019.6.1-2), a pierced apron surrounding three legs, and is adorned with the applied coat-of-arms of the Yusupov family on the front.
