About this object

Highly structured ivory silk girdle with cross hatch pattern. The girdle had metal stays and a metal busk running 1/2 of the front length with four slide clasps. Below the busk are six pairs of metal reinforced grommet holes set in a V-shape and two set wider apart at the top of the V. The V-shape has remnants of elastic cording. The back lacing made of a woven silk ribbon is laced through eighteen pairs of metal reinforced grommet holes. The top and 1/3 of the length of the busk are lined with machine floral patterned lace with a scalloped edge that is edged with a ribbon. At the top of the busk are two pink satin ribbon bows. Descending from the busk are two ivory elastic garters with stamped metal clasps for adjustment and metal and rubber clasps for the stocking. There are two of the same garters attached to the back of the girdle and one on each side. The interior of the girdle has elastic patches at back and bottom.
