About this object

Folding leaf fan consisting of tortoiseshell sticks and guards and a silk embroidered leaf. The obverse leaf—a cream silk embroidered with an asymmetrical Asian inspired branch with leaves and flowers in varied shades of pink, cream, green, and brown, two robins, a butterfly, and an insect. The reverse of the leaf is alight blue silk embroidered in all white with an asymmetrical branch of flowers and four butterflies. The top of the fan is lined with a small strip of paper. The head of the fan has a mother of pearl washer and a yellow metal loop.
