About this object

"The watch is comprised of a padlock-shaped case attached to an articulated chain bracelet. The top and sides of the gold case are adorned with pavé-set diamonds. In the center of the case is the insignia of Mount Vernon Seminary in platinum mounted with diamonds. Encircling it is a platinum roundel inscribed with the school's motto--'SEMINARI MONTIS VERNONIS SIGILLUM 1875.' Both motifs are set against a ground of calibré-cut sapphires. A push button at the right opens the lid to reveal the watch's movement. The gold lug also features pavé-set diamonds. The upper strap is mounted with pavé-set diamonds and a row of baguette-cut diamonds. The fully articulated chain bracelet consists of twenty-one gold links inscribed with the names of Nedenia's school mates and the date “June 2nd” and the top and “1941” at the bottom. These are interspersed with twenty gold links pavé set with diamonds. At the end of the chain is a gold clasp with pavé-set and baguette-cut diamonds that attaches to the arched top of the lock for closure. "
