About this object

“Hillwood Post Emblem” or “Hillwood pin.” Pin of Post family crest, with “Hillwood” replacing “IN ME MEA SPES OMNIS.” Each pin has a unique stamped number on back. Pins correspond to log book titled, “Being a Record of the Hillwood Post Emblem” which is currently in the Hillwood Archive Collection. Inside the log book is a mailing label presumably indicating delivery of the pins in 1968. Also inside the log book, a memo from Marvin Ross (January 24, 1969) to Mrs. Voight asking, “Do you have a record of the hostess-friends of Mrs. Post to whom the pins were given.” Per discussion with conservation technician Manuel Diaz in 2013, the pins were used during Post’s time for on-duty staff and also hostesses (friends working as docents to share knowledge about the collection with guests) and also later issued to Hillwood museum staff, per museum director Bentley. The log book lists pins given to Post’s family, friends/hostesses, and later museum staff.
