About this object

The hat is an oval shaped box form covered in navy satin with a sweetheart shape cut slightly upward in the front. The crown is covered side to side in overlapping rows of basket-weave nylon horsehair, interwoven with navy raffia strands. This covering is slightly gathered and raised front and back to reveal navy satin. Inside the is hat, the maker has signed in dark pink threads, approximately 5”H x 1.5”W. There is an additional stitch inside to indicate the front.
