About this object

The cross is enameled white on silver and has ten balls in the tips. It rests on an enameled green wreath of oak and laurel wreath. In the center of the Southern Cross is a circle in white enamel on a pale blue ground. Around it is an inscription in dark blue. On the reverse is a gold head with the female head of liberty and a dark blue enameled rim with gold letters. The cross is suspended from the wreath of oak and laurel wreaths in green enamel. The ribbon is blue moiré.
