About this object

The watch is decorated with its sides, stem, rim and borders, front and back being pave in pearls and turquoise. The front has a small dial enameled in white with black Roman numerals for the hours. The rest of the front has a Swiss landscape enameled in colors. Against this is a four-color gold relief with a young man and a young woman each playing a musical instrument. The back cover is enameled with the half-figure of Ceres (Demeter), the harvest goddess. She faces the right and holds her left arm above her head with a scarf entwined in the fingers. She holds a sheaf of wheat in her right arm. The inner back cover is enameled with a group of musical instruments and a Chinese parasol in colors on a light green ground. Also, S M for seconds and musical.
