About this object

The background is apple green enamel with raised fleurettes and scrolls either in white enamel or gilt. On the cover is an oval bust-sized portrait of a young man. On each side are two reserved panels with frames in raised gilt scrolls and painted in colors, each with a landscape with a shepherd with sheep and a cow or donkey or with two figures strolling in the country. Inside are two glass bottles- one for ink, and one for pounce- topped with enameled covers painted with flowers, a penknife, letter opener, quill holder and pen seal, all in their respective fittings.
