About this object

Rectangular steel box has on the sides swags of fruit engraved and with touches of gilt bronze. Cover has a rectangular elevated panel in the center, inset and engraved with a basket, fruit, flowers, grapes and leaves. The fruit and some flowers are gilded. Central panel is flanked by two pedestals with vases filled with flowers. On the top two crossed cornucopias with fruit. Underneath are garlands of flowers suspended from gilded scrolls. Interior has gilt bronze plaques with engraved borders attached with rivets. Lond gilt bronze hinge is on the back and small bow-shaped thumbpiece is on the front of the lid.
