About this object

This square brass icon with a kokoshnik gable depicts St. George on horseback piercing the dragon with his spear. The hand of God emerges from a mandorla at upper right. In the gable above is Christ as King of Kings. Both images are framed against a decorative background of squares, triangles and volutes in dark blue and blue-white enamel within twisted wire cages. The icon is inscribed "Holy Great Martyr George" and "Jesus Christ King of Kings."
