About this object

The andirons are gilt allover. Each has two child satyrs, one at each end, seated back to back, holding in each hand a swag of fruit. In the center of the platform is an urn on four lion paw feet, topped by a flame. The platform has, on the front, a panel with eagle's wings and thunderbolts in low relief. Rounded ends with guilloches, and three top-like feet at each end.
