About this object

The compote has a metal base on which a glass bowl is placed. The glass bowl is cut with crisscross and other patterns. The gilt base is very elaborate. It has a young man and young woman dressed in 18th century costume standing under a tree with a dog on one side of the tree and two sheep on the other. The tree branches support the metal base for the glass bowl. The base is made in openwork.
